Georgia O’Keeffe (born 1887 in Sun Prairie / WI, died 1986 in Santa Fe / NM) studied at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago; and at the Art Students League in New York City with William Merritt Chase. She has had retrospective exhibitions at the Brooklyn Museum, New York (1927); Art Institute, Chicago (1943); Amon Carter Museum, Fort Worth (1966); at the Whitney Museum of American Art, New York (1970).
