Théodore Chassériau (b. 1819, Saint-Domingue / Dominican Republic, d. 1856, Paris) studied under Jean Auguste Dominique Ingres. Famous works are: Andromeda Chained to the Rock by the Neireids, 1840; The two sisters, 1843; Apollon and Daphne, 1845; The Tepidarium, 1853.
