Eighth Veil is proud to present the work of renowned designer and artist, Arik Levy.
Levy will be showing works from his most recent collection, Absent Nature, an extension of his iconic rock forms in which he explores relationships between subject and object, man-made and natural experience.
In earlier bodies of work such as Rocksplit & Rockshelves, Levy focused heavily on materiality. Levy’s creations are “formed from the outside in,” Libby Sellers explains, drawing inspiration from his medium and using subtraction to arrive at his final form. Absent Nature continues this investigation, but asks how material qualities transform in different contexts and interactions. As Levy further unpicks the theme of absence, a dialectical relationship between void and rebirth emerges in his work.
Arik Levy (b. 1963) studied Industrial Design at Art Center Europe in Switzerland. He currently lives and works in Paris in his multidisciplinary design studio L Design, alongside his co-founding business partner, Pippo Lionni. Levy was HSBC’s pick for The Connection Collection in 2009. He has exhibited at the Centre Georges Pompidou, the Victoria and Albert Museum, the Jerusalem Museum, and the Museum of Modern Art in New York, among others.
