Ivan Bošković. Erde für die Zukunft

In dieser Performance beschäftigt sich Ivan Bošković mit dem Thema Erbe. Die Mystifizierung der Vergangenheit und der Prozess, wie das Individuum in den nationalen mythologisierten Kodex eingeführt wird, stehen dabei im Mittelpunkt.

Ivan Bošković inszeniert mit einer Kombination aus Wahrsagerei und wissenschaftlichen Manierismus eine esoterische Sitzung. Diese enthüllt, wie einfach es ist, an nationale Werte zu glauben und sich selbst darin zu erkennen. Bošković offenbart den Kontext, in dem das Subjekt platziert wird: eine Mischung aus simplen Leidenschaften und Mystik, die zudem von wissenschaftlichen Autoritäten und moralischen Instanzen unterstützt wird. Innerhalb dieses Kontexts ist es sehr leicht, das Individuum zu manipulieren. Es entsteht ein sofortiges Gefühl der Angehörigkeit zu einer Gruppierung, das durch die automatische Ablehnung des Anderen funktioniert – ein sehr einfacher und uralter Mechanismus, der heutzutage immer noch erfolgreich ist.

Ein entscheidendes Problem ist dabei die unverantwortliche Übergabe der historischen Last. Aufgrund unvollständiger Auseinandersetzung innerhalb einer Generation, bestehen die erzeugten Konflikte fort. Die jeweilige Folgegeneration erhält als Erbe ein Stück verunreinigte Erde. Wenn sie daraus eine Zukunft entwickeln will, muss sie sich selbst mit der Kontaminierung beschäftigen und sie verarbeiten, egal ob diese vererbten Extras Stolz oder Schuld sind.

Der in Ex-Jugoslawien aufgewachsene Künstler Ivan Bošković (*1977 in Belgrad) setzt sich mit politischen und gesellschaftlichen Systemen auseinander, die er im aktuellen Geschehen von Wirtschaft, Kultur und Religion findet. Dabei spielt die Ironie in seinen Arbeiten eine wesentliche Rolle. Er studierte Philologie und Film in Belgrad und absolvierte als Meisterschüler bei Katharina Sieverding an der Universität der Künste in Berlin.

In this performance Ivan Bošković engages with the theme of heritage, the central focus being the mystification of the past and the process by which the individual is instituted in the national mythological codex.

With a combination of fortune telling and scientific mannerism Ivan Bošković stages an esoteric session which reveals how easy it is to believe in national values and to recognize one’s self in it. Bošković reveals the context in which the subject is situated: an amalgam of passion and mystique, furthermore supported by scientific authorities and pillars of morality alike. The individual is easily manipulated within these contexts. An instant feeling of group belonging arises, based on the automatic exclusion of the other- a very simple and ancient mechanism which is still very successful nowadays.

One of the central problems is the irresponsible transfer of the historical burden. These conflicts persist due to the insufficient understanding and contention within a generation. Each following generation inherits a handful of contaminated soil. If it wants to build a future on it, it has to decontaminate and process it, regardless of whether the contaminants are pride or guilt.

Ivan Bošković (*1977 in Belgrade) who grew up in ex-Yugoslavia deals with political and social systems, which he finds in the current happenings of economy, culture and religion. Here, irony plays a major role in his work. He studied philology and film in Belgrade and graduated as a master student with Katharina Sieverding at the Universität der Künste, Berlin.
