press release

John Wood and Paul Harrison are familiar names in the world of Hungarian art, and their videos have graced several Hungarian exhibitions. What is less well known is that their first joint work was actually premiered in Hungary at the 1993 Mediawave Festival; indeed their very first independent exhibition was staged in Hungary at the 1998 Dunaújváros Institute of Contemporary Art.

They now present their latest works at the Ludwig Múzeum. These works largely resemble earlier pieces which have won over audiences with their subtle humour. Wood and Harrison manipulate objects to place unexpected aspects and properties of them in centre stage: these processes are then captured in the form of brief video films. In their latest work, it is the camera moves and the series of their earlier individual clips are assembled into a sequence. What has not changed is the two artist’s characteristically quirky vision and humour.
