OBSCURA. From painting to video art

The holdings of Sørlandet Art Museum include a number of video works. These we wish to present, but in a somewhat unusual setting. This is therefore an exhibition emphasizing video art in dialog with paintings and photographs. Through spectacular scenography, we will create an exhibition thematizing light and space as artistic media and devices, but also as technical preconditions.

In one exhibition room, and according to principles developed ca. 1000 AD, we will build a large Camera Obscura. The public will be able to move about inside the Camera and experience the construction’s optical intricacies.
