Auguste Renoir (Pierre-Auguste Renoir, born 1841 in Limoges/France, died 1919 in Cagnes-sur-mer/France) was an Impressionist painter, who developed his own free style. He was a friend of Claude Monet, Alfred Sisley, Frédéric Bazille and Édouard Manet. They often painted together primarily outdoors, in the woods. He was the father of the Film Director Jean Renoir.
