Ay-O (Takao Iijima, b. 1931, Tamatsukuri / Ibaragi Prefecture, Japan) is a Fluxus artist and now lives in Tokyo. In 1958 he went to New York and became a founding member of the fluxus movement. In these times he worked together with George Maciunas, Emmett Williams, Dick Higgins und Nam June Paik. In 1966 he published his "rainbow manifesto" and in the same year he participated at the Venice Biennale, and in 1971 at the São Paulo Biennale. Ay-O taught at the University of Kentucky.
