short biography

Flávio de Carvalho (b. 1899, Amparo da Barra Mansa/Brazil; d. 1973, Valinhos/Brazil) was a painter, architect, writer, critic and engineer. From 1931 he carried out interventions in public urban spaces and paved the way for new artistic processes in Brazil. He created the 'futuristic housing model', the city of the naked man, without God, private property or marriage, a "wild being with all his desires, all his curiosity intact and not suppressed, in search of a naked civilisation", as he said.
