Lutz Bacher (b. 1962; d. 2019 ) lived and worked in Berkeley / California since the 1970s and later in New York. She has hidden her identity behind a male pseudonym. Her heterogeneous work of different media and methods reveals a strong interest in appropriation strategies. Her work is in the collections of The San Francisco Museum of Modern Art, Art Institute of Chicago, Metropolitan Museum of Art New York, Walker Art Center Minneapolis, Whitney Museum of American Art New York, Museum of Modern Art, New York, amongst others.
