Paula Rego (b. 1935, Lisbon; d. 2022, London) was a painter and graphic artist, based in London.
She worked with political collages and later with figurative painting, in which she dealt with the woman within society. She painted domestic scenes of everyday life that ostensibly radiated normality and innocence, but at the same time threatened to open up abysses.
Paula Rego studied at St Julian's School, Carcavelos and at Slade School of Art, London.
