Art Miami (www.art-miami.com), Miami's longest running contemporary art fair and anchor fair to the city of Miami, will present a thought-provoking video exhibition, titled "ZOOOM! Decoding Common Practice." The exhibition is specially curated for the fair by curator Julia Draganovic.

Art Miami will run from November 29–December 4, 2011, in a state-of-the-art 125,000-square-foot pavilion in Midtown Miami's burgeoning Wynwood Arts District. Art Miami has grown to include more than 110 galleries from 18 countries and will showcase 1,000 artists from 60 countries around the world. From the United States, 400 artists will be shown from nearly 100 cities. Art Miami annually features a compelling array of artwork from international galleries and prominent art institutions, including modern and contemporary paintings, drawings, sculpture, photography and prints from Europe, Asia, Latin America, India, the Middle East and the United States.

The works in "ZOOOM! Decoding Common Practice" are loaned from renowned private collections and prominent art institutions from around the world. The highly anticipated exhibition will unveil a works from artists, who research the human condition and experiment with the variety of tools that video art provides. The collective works reveals a glimpse beyond the ordinary and discovers the precariousness of the stability that communities try to maintain.

Topping ArtReview magazine's 2011 Power 100 list, Ai Weiwei's long video, Chang'an Boulevard, will be one of several celebrated works featured. Courtesy of the Fondazione Cassa di Risparmio Moden, the highly influential Chinese artist's video illustrates the main traffic concourse that crosses the Chinese capital, capturing the image of a metropolis along with all its inherent contradictions at the dawn of the controversial urban transformation that overwhelmed the city during the 2008 Olympic Games.

"Ai Weiwei's work is extremely powerful, so we're pleased to share it with Art Miami visitors," Draganovic said. "Thanks to the support of Persol, we were able to acquire his work, along with a group of highly coveted videos, which will undoubtedly make this year's exhibition a stirring experience."

In addition to Weiwei's captivating video, Italian couture eyewear designer Persol will showcase its celebrated documentary, A Work of Persol. The coveted video illuminates Persol's collaboration with 17 of the world's brightest contemporary artists including Etienne Rey, Thukral & Tagra and Xing Danwen. The intriguing documentary celebrates the passion and process inherent in a work of art and takes a captivating view of the artistic process.

Other sought-after videos showcased at the Persol Art Video Exhibition include: María Teresa Hincapi's Una Cosa Es Una Cosa, courtesy of Colección de Arte del Banco de la Republica; Lucia Nimcová's Double Coding, from the Mudam Musèe d'Art Moderne du Grand-Duc Jean; Miguel Angel Rios's Matambre on loan from the private collection of Miami collector, Boris Hirmas Said; Isabel Rocamora's Body of War from the private collection of Manuel de Santaren; and Suara Welitoff's The Song That Makes You Cry, courtesy of the Collection Western Bridge.

Art Miami's "Outstanding Sculpture Projects" will be presented throughout the Art Miami pavilion, featuring more than 20 works from multiple artistic disciplines. Highlights of this year's exhibition include three major modern works: Marc Chagall's Les Amoureux à Saint Paul de Vence / La Fete Heureuse (1971–72) a mosaic the artist created to celebrate his days in Saint Paul de Vence; French-born American artist Arman's Wall of Violins (1984), a sculpture of violins made from die-cut brass; and Italian ceramic sculptor Carlo Zauli's Stele (1972).

Two site-specific pieces have been created for Art Miami's front area and interior walls: After her memorable installation at the Bass Museum in 2004, Finnish artist Kaarina Kaikkonen, presented by Gallery Forsblom, Helsinki, came back to Miami creating one of her outdoor installations made out of local second-hand clothing specifically for Art Miami. The idea of protection and caretaking for our environment is an essential part of her artistic practice. "As a Tree I Can Feel the Wind" has an almost animistic approach to nature, trying to trigger thoughts about the interconnectivity between human beings and nature. The poetic palm tree installation picks up on global environmental issues in an encouraging way.

Sofia Maldonado, presented by New York gallery Magnan who is known for an urban sensibility that draws inspiration from aspects of street and youth culture, fashion and commercial design, abstraction and pop art, will produce, partly during the show period and in presence of the audience, two large-size wall panels featuring her ubiquitous brash girls.

The show's curator, German-born Julia Draganovic, is an independent curator and art critic with a particular interest in new artistic strategies and art in public spaces. Since June 2009, she has been guest curator of No Longer Empty in New York and is curator of Bologna Art First.

The 22st edition of Art Miami will officially kick off with its opening night on Tuesday, November 29, 2011. Art Miami's highly anticipated Opening Night VIP Preview will benefit The Lotus House Women's Shelter, a sanctuary for homeless women and infants in need. The exclusive evening is the first opportunity for VIP collectors to acquire some of the finest pieces of modern and contemporary art from the 20th and 21st centuries and attracts 7,500 museum curators, collectors, artists, connoisseurs and interior designers.
