Vernissage July 21st at 3 pm in the presence of both artists.

artist Boscher THEODOR
invited by Olivier Mosset

Mosset is a small medieval village in the Pyrénées Catalanes Natural Park in Southern France. Once a year, Olivier Mosset invites an artist to exhibit in a stone chapel situated in a wild and dramatic landscape. It is an unusual project, almost a secret one, miles away from the familiar white cube aesthetic.

It all started when Mosset, who belonged to the group BMPT together with Daniel Buren, Michel Parmentier and Niele Toroni, was invited by one of his students and the mayor of the small town to exhibit in Mosset. Nomen est omen: what started out as a gag, led to a deeper connection and Olivier Mosset gives carte blanche to an artist of his choice to occupy the Capelleta for the third year now.

Boscher THEODOR is this year's invited artist. Born in Berlin, he grew up in Cologne in the midst of the booming art scene of the 80s and got his first stimuli from punk and bad painting. Early collaborations with Walter Dahn and Imi Knoebel had a lasting influence on his artistic development. Later on, his work with cinema led him to merge the two forms of language, film and painting.

For the exhibition in Mosset, Theodor has conceived an installation in which different film materials create a direct reference to the stained-glass technique and thus also to the fundamental theme of light in painting. Vernissage July 21st at 3 pm in the presence of both artists. Trompeuse, a signed and numbered limited edition of 10 glazed ceramics, will be available at a preferential price during the opening.

OPTIQUE TROMPEUSE runs from July 22nd to August 18th, 2018.
Open Tuesday to Sunday from 10am to 12am and from 2pm to 7pm.
