press release

The design duo Fernando and Humberto Campana are known for their colourful, bold and experimental furniture influenced by traditional handicrafts. They work in partnership with communities and use everyday material such as rope, cardboard, stuffed toy animals, bamboo, blankets, and plastic tubes. At Bildmuseet, Campanas are creating a site-specific room installation, Woods. "We found the inspiration in nature," explains Humberto Campana. "The goal was to bring nature indoors; the forest taking its place back and turning tables."

Fernando Campana (b. 1961) and Humberto Campana (b. 1953) live and work in São Paulo, Brazil. Their work has been shown at the Victoria & Albert Museum in London, Beijing Design Week and at MAXXI in Rome, among others and their furniture can be found in numerous collections, for instance at the Museum of Modern Art in New York and Centre Georges Pompidou, Paris. Campanas / Woods at Bildmuseet is their first exhibition in Sweden.
