press release

micro/macro: 261 drawings features a selection of works from Christine Taylor Patten's micro/macro series. Begun in 1998, the series comprises a continuum of thousands of images, starting from a single dot in space and evolving through gradual movement to create an expansion of possibilities.

Each of the 260 micro images, measuring one by one inch, is intricately wrought with crow quill and ink. A large-scale study for the macro piece, imagine2, will complement the progression of micros lining the perimeter of the room.

The exhibition will be accompanied by Drawing Papers 66: Christine Taylor Patten: micro/macro: 261 drawings, which includes a newly commissioned essay by renowned author and art historian Griselda Pollock.
