press release

Widely recognized as one of the most important artists of his generation, Scottish artist Douglas Gordon works in a variety of media, including video, film, and photography. The 1996 Turner Prize-winner often uses found imagery to explore issues of memory and individual identity and how these are mediated over time. Douglas Gordon is the first major American retrospective of the artist and the most comprehensive assessment of his work to date. Organized by Russell Ferguson, UCLA Hammer Museum deputy director of exhibitions and programs and chief curator, Douglas Gordon is accompanied by a fully illustrated catalogue.

Douglas Gordon is made possible in part by generous support from Susan Bay-Nimoy and Leonard Nimoy, Catharine and Jeffrey Soros, The Thornton S. Glide, Jr. and Katrina D. Glide Foundation, The Peter Norton Family Foundation, the MOCA Contemporaries, and the New Media Project. Additional support for the exhibition catalogue has been provided by Art for Arts Sake. Promotional support provided by KLON FM 88.1.
