During her residency at Villa Arson, Emmanuelle Lainé occupied the galerie du Patio as her working studio. Gradually the space was transformed in an empirical manner, fortuitously or voluntarily, by sedimentation of materials, in an experimental spirit. So the borders disappear between working studio, exhibition space and exterior space. By using photography, as well as for the first time video imagery, we witness a constant « mise en abyme » of the place and the objects into an immersive work of illusion, of decompartmentalization of space which creates a permanently troubled vision.

Emmanuelle Lainé lives in Brussels and Marseille, and she graduated from the ENSBA (École nationale supérieure des Beauxarts) in Paris. She recently exhibited at the Fondation d’entreprise Ricard and at the Palais de Tokyo (Paris), at the Biennale in Lyon, at the Glstrand (Copenhague), at c-o-m-p-o-s-i-t-e (Brussels) and also at the IFAL (Mexico) and the ICA (Singapore).
