Erik A. Frandsen is making his deeply personal diary of a trip to Haiti available to us. The diary captures places, impressions and conversations as fragments, and is full of sensuality and immediacy. It does not depict a specific place; rather, it depicts the feeling and seduction that arises in the encounter with the exotic. It is Frandsen’s encounter with the place and with himself.
For the exhibition at Brandts, he creates a poetic space where the pages of the diary are reproduced as 28 giant light panels bent in neon in dialogue with delicate crayon drawings created on the trip.
