The manifestation of strong emotion and sturdy plasticity are the characteristics of German Expressionism but at the same time his works are filled with a sense of deep meditation which appeals to our hearts. The Exhibition, consisting of 180 works, includes 57 sculpture (including wood carvings), 76 drawings, 36 prints and materials. A retrospective exhibition introduces the entire scope of Barlachfs art for the first time in Japan.
