hybrID
03.09.2019 - 17.11.2019

hybrID ties in with discussions of cultural diversity throughout Europe. The exhibition explores the construction of identity in a transcultural context and examines the ambivalence and complexity of territorial and cultural boundaries.

In the course of migration, identity is often ideologically instrumentalised and affiliated with an universal claim to that which is locally anchored. Not only today, but over the longest period of time flight and forced displacement cause increased global migration. Thus cultures are never homogeneous, they always emerge from the mutual exchange.

hybrID brings together international artists who conceive of identity as an ongoing process that refers to the hybrid. The artistic positions reflect the cause-and-effect connection between the digitalization and global mobility of the present.
