Coming from film and theatre, Maleonn creates photography resembling lyrical sceneries of imagination. Not only the narrative nature of Maleonn’s photographs shows in both of the series exhibited, but also the artists love of detailed compositions and cinematic staging.

Maleonn has found a unique way to transform traditional storytelling into photographs inspired by various sources: from the liberal arts to opera, film, literature and even shadow theatre. Repressed memories of past and present, ancient tales and poems are brought to life on his photographic stages in a theatrical visual language of playfulness, drama, disguise, reality and fantasy.

His visions result in fabulous scenic fantasies ad absurdum, reminiscent of glossy modern fashion photography.
