press release

The artist Małgorzata Markiewicz has designed the national costume for the citizens of the European Union. The costumes consist of two parts: a blouse shaped as the letter ā€˜Eā€™ and trousers shaped as the letter ā€˜Uā€™. The costumes of particular member states only differ in the type of material that they are made of, and the trimmings. They are all noted for being local, modest, comfortable, simple and caring towards the environment. The costumes will be presented in a number of EU states.

The exhibition in MOCAK will be accompanied by a catalogue presenting the idea of the project, individual costumes and samples of the textiles used.
