Marja Kanervo

Marja Kanervo (1958–) is a pioneer of Finnish installation art. The focus of her extensive show will be on new pieces created specifically for this exhibition. Also included will be new versions of Kanervo’s earlier installations that have been adapted to Kiasma’s architecture. Kanervo’s works are all unique, site and time-specific interventions, and as such are not transferable to another site.

Marja Kanervo’s uncompromising art creates a powerful sense of presence, affecting the viewer’s emotions, thoughts and senses in an exceptional way. The organic architecture of Kiasma will engage in an intense dialogue with the elements of Kanervo’s work – physical yet sensitive, almost intangible.
