press release

This summer Panamarenko is showing drawings and sketches from the 1970's to the present at the Rubenshuis. It is the first time ever that this Antwerp landmark has played host to a contemporary artist, although the exhibition is not intended as a confrontation between the two artists' work. Their ambition to create does bridge however the four centuries of fine art that separate the two local men.

Ludion Press is publishing Tekenen en rekenen (Renderings and Reckonings) to accompany the Rubenshuis exhibition. The book contains drawings and sketches that offer an insight into Panamarenko's artistic and scientific world. Panamarenko humorously notes how and why some of the drawings came about and was also responsible for the book's graphic design. Ludion, available in Dutch, 75 €, for sale in the Rubenshuis bookshop.

Renderings and Reckonings is part of a large Antwerp summer project built around Panamarenko (entitled Alles leren alles kunnen alles doen). Information on the other events taking place in the 'Antwerpse Luchtschipbouw', the MuHKA en the Sint-Jansplein may be found on www.panamarenko.info.
