press release

We are pleased to announce Manuele Cerutti’s (*1976 in Turin) third solo exhibition in Berlin.

In new canvases the artist puts on display and “questions” seemingly insignificant everyday items. By abstracting them from their functional context, he focuses on the formal characteristics and reveals one of the possible original essences of the object as such.

In this way, Cerutti to some extent liberates the objects from their ideological and cultural frameworks, distilling their being. He provides no information whatsoever about a specific time, a specific place, or scale, and devotes himself to an extensive pictorial examination of the object. He distances and alienates them from their social value, bringing their sculptural attributes to light.
