press release

The set of art works at the exhibition Revelations has been made on the basis of a private collection, consisting of about 400 works, deposited at Pori Art Museum. The collection has not been built up in order to be a document of canonized conceptions of art, or of certain criteria concerning it. It would be even farther from the truth to say that it was meant to constitute a complete picture of the art scene of any certain period. It has been formed by strongly impulsive acquisitions. The art works that are now exposed have found the collector. Not the other way round. They have revealed themselves to the collector unannouncedly, suddenly. At the revelations, the collector has often been speechless. His way of seeing art has changed. It has found new perspectives. The works have often made the collector conscious of something that was already growing inside him. The art works have become subjects, agents, and the collector has become the goal, the object. Through the collection, a dialogue that`s in constant movement has been born between the collector and the collection, between the collector and the art scene and between the collector and his subconscious.
