"A sculpture feeds the senses at a place, whereas a photograph or text work (from another place) feeds the imagination. For me, these different forms of my work represent freedom and richness – it's not possible to say 'everything' in one way.“ (R. L., 2009)

„My work is about my senses, my instinct, my own scale and my own physical commitment. It is about real stones, real time, real actions.“ (R. L., 2009)

On this year's GALLERY WEEKEND, Konrad Fischer Galerie Berlin is pleased to present an exhibition of works by Richard Long. A large flintstone sculpture, which will be installed in our gallery space for the first time, as well as several text and photographic works, will be included in the show.

„A sculpture feeds the senses at a place, whereas a photograph or text work (from another place) feeds the imagination. For me, these different forms of my work represent freedom and richness – it's not possible to say 'everything' in one way.“ (R. L., 2009)

Richard Long, one of the founding artists of Land Art, travels to remote areas of the world exploring and walking. During these walks the artist creates sculptures out of stones, wood, or other found material, which he usually arranges in circles, lines, spirals or crosses. The sculptures remain in their natural environment and are left alone to eventually disappear over time. The work of Richard Long explores the human relation to material, movement and time. Moreover, all his works reflect in one way or another the limits of his own physicality.

„My work is about my senses, my instinct, my own scale and my own physical commitment. It is about real stones, real time, real actions.“ (R. L., 2009)
