Robert Knoth

Twenty years after the explosion at the nuclear plant in Chernobyl photographer Robert Knoth (1963) captures with his camera the human impact of the world’s most notorious nuclear catastrophe that had place in the former Soviet Union. Knoth travelled from Chernobyl and West-Siberia to the Oeralmountains to photograph the drama’s of the Russian nuclear testgrounds. The exhibition combines the probing portraits of ruined human life with the touching images of deserted villages and contaminated landscapes. Knoth’s photos remind us of the horrifying consequences of radio-active accidents in a time that nuclear power is again very current in today’s climate debate.
