press release

Jan Brueghel the Elder and Peter Paul Rubens were the two leading artists in Antwerp in the 17th century. They regularly combined forces. These collaborative efforts display the best of both artists, and more. In collaboration with the Getty Museum in Los Angeles, the Mauritshuis presents the most beautiful examples of these kinds of 17th-century paintings.

It is a little known fact that many 17th-century Dutch and Flemish paintings were made by more than one artist. Often, the quality of these works is nothing short of exceptional, and they are true high points in the oeuvres of the individual masters.

Accompanied by a comprehensive catalogue.
