AMSTERDAM, 29 August 2006 Entitled "The Kids Are Alright", the first exhibition at the new Galerie Gabriel Rolt on Elandsgracht in Amsterdam opens on 9 September. Consisting of works on paper and photography, the show takes its name from a piece by American artist Reed Anderson: a skull made up of cut paper flower patterns as an ode to life and death.

The invitation to the exhibition features the work Smiling Man with Wounded Paw and Torn Off Sleeves by Marijn Akkermans (the Netherlands). In the surreal situations he draws in large formats, the good guy and the bad guy are not as unambiguous as they seem. In recent years he has exhibited successfully in Germany and at GEM in The Hague, and Gemeentemuseum Den Haag (The Hague City Museum) has purchased two of his works.
