press release

ALP GALLERIES is delighted to announce the Openings, at its new showroom in Frankfurt and gallery in New York, of two Solo Exhibitions with Thitz.

The Exhibitions will feature the newest works of Thitz’s Global Bag Art: his signature paintings/collages with integrated paper bags. By using shopping bags from all over the world and filling the canvases with cheerful characters, he turns his colorful images of the greatest cities of this world into ambassadors of goodwill between cities and countries, creating the vision of a ThitzWorld where people of all cultures live peacefully together even in tight spaces- regardless of nationality, religion or race: a very appropriate appeal in our turbulent present times.

Dr. Stephan Mann, President of the Museum Goch writes: “Thitz’s world is a colorful, vivid and cheerful world. It is fun to step into it, and it frees oneself up to take a fresh look – even on the nuances and the fringes of reality”.

This Exhibition will be the starting point of a whole program with Thitz in the United States, continuing with another solo show with Alp Galleries in New York on Nov. 30. Thereafter, Thitz has been invited by the Miami Children’s Museum to stage the interactive Miami Bag Art Project with local children in the context of Art Basel Miami in December, similar to a recent event in Karlsruhe, Germany. In early January 2007, the results of the Project will be presented, and a Thitz installation and more of his works be shown at the Museum as well at Art Miami.

Thitz lives and works in Stuttgart. His work has been very successfully exhibited in Germany, Switzerland, Spain, Austria, Greece and also in New York, and it is represented in important private, corporate (Deutsche Bank, BW-Bank, Altana, Burda) and public collections such as the Klingspor Museum Offenbach and the Museum of Contemporary Art, Barcelona.
