press release

D’Amelio Terras is pleased to announce Tony Feher’s exhibition at the Chinati Foundation in Marfa, Texas. For the past two years Feher has been conceptualizing site-specific installations for three dynamic exhibition spaces operated by Chinati. Feher’s installations will occupy The Arena, a former gymnasium for world war two soldiers as well as a site for cattle roping exhibitions; The Ice House, a converted factory; and a former stable building that is being used for the first time as an exhibition space.

Feher’s accumulative works rise to a level greater than the sum of their humble parts. The vast exhibition spaces, the geography of the West Texas desert, and the history and significance of the Chinati’s permanent collection make this project a high point in Feher’s career.

Feher has previously created site specific works at the Serpentine Gallery, London, UK (2004); the Hagia Sophia for the 8th International Istanbul Biennial, Istanbul, Turkey (2003); University of California, Berkeley Art Museum, Berkeley, CA (2002); and for his solo exhibition at the Center for Curatorial Studies, Bard College, Annandale-on-Hudson, NY (2001).

Feher’s works can be viewed in the collections of the Whitney Museum of American Art, New York, NY; The Art Institute of Chicago, Chicago, IL; San Francisco Museum of Modern Art, San Francisco, CA; Baltimore Museum of Art, Baltimore, MD; and the Modern Art Museum of Fort Worth, TX.
