press release

This summer will see an explosion colour and vitality as the DR Congo and 16 other African countries celebrate 50 years of independence. The Centre for Fine Arts is organizing a festival as only it can, bringing to Brussels the greatest names in the performing and the visual arts: Rokia Traoré, Angélique Kidjo, Didier Awadi, legendary choreographer Germaine Acogny, and many more artists who fuse excellence of form with social engagement.

As if that were not enough, this ambitious project proposes a new vision for our cultural relations with Africa. That is why BOZAR and the Royal Museum for Central Africa in Tervuren have joined hands to forge a new and long-term collaborative project at the Centre for Fine Arts. The fascinating GEO-graphics exhibition will be the initial laboratory for this project, and all the artists invited to festival will be asked to join in discussions and share their thoughts on this Visionary Africa during their ‘48 Hours in Brussels’.

Tomorrow’s Africa? Find it today at the Centre for Fine Arts!
