Wu Tsang’s films, installations, performances, and sculptures move fluidly between
documentary, activism, and fiction. Her projects have been presented at museums
and film festivals internationally, including 2016 Berlin Biennial, Julia Stoschek
Collection (Berlin, Düsseldorf), Tate Modern (London), Stedelijk Museum
(Amsterdam), MOCA (Hiroshima), MCA (Chicago), Hammer Museum (Los Angeles),
Berlinale Film Festival (Berlin), SANFIC (Santiago), Hot Docs Festival (Toronto),
and South by Southwest Film Festival (Austin).
Her 2012 film Wildness premiered at the Museum of Modern Art’s Documentary
Fortnight, and her work was also featured in the 2012 Whitney Biennial and in
“The Ungovernables” New Museum Triennial in New York. Solo exhibitions include
Migros Museum für Gegenwartskunst (Zürich), Spring Workshop (Hong Kong),
and upcoming at Nottingham Contemporary (UK).
She has received grants from Creative Capital, Andy Warhol Foundation for the
Visual Arts, Louis Comfort Tiffany Foundation, Foundation for Contemporary Art.
Currently she is a 2016 Guggenheim Fellow.
