PREVIEW AND OPENING EVENTS: SEPTEMBER 24–26, 2008
Art TLV launches the first citywide international contemporary art exhibition as Tel Aviv approaches its 100th Anniversary. The project, curated by Andrew Renton (Director of Curating at Goldsmiths, University of London) brings together international and Israeli artists and curators with Tel Aviv's bourgeoning contemporary art scene, Bauhaus architecture, and cosmopolitan culture. The projects are on view from September 27 - October 18, 2008; VIP preview from September 24 - September 26, 2008.
Art TLV will take place throughout the historic streets of Tel Aviv, recognized by UNESCO as a World Cultural Heritage Site for its Bauhaus architecture. The locations will create a route that manifests Art TLV's curatorial theme, Open Plan Living, an architectural concept advocating the creation of new spaces while breaking symbolic and hierarchical walls.
Art TLV is a unique opportunity for artists, curators, gallerists, collectors, journalists, and art enthusiasts to explore Tel Aviv's cultural scene. ArtTLV will expand in September 2009 to create a tri-city art event with the Istanbul and Athens Biennials.
