Mirja Busch (born 1978 in Hamburg) completed her fine art studies under Frances Scholz at the Braunschweig University of Art (HBK) in 2006, and earned her MFA at the Universidad de Chile in 2008 – 2009. Subsequently Busch attended residencies in London (2010) and in Cambridge, Massachusetts (2013) at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). Busch’s artistic works represent a focused search for new forms of the existence and the experience of objects. In doing so, Busch uses photography as a medium for exploring sculptural concerns in a new way. Travel is an important part of her artistic practice. Through travel, temporary intervention and the development of remote or extreme spaces, her work poses critical questions regarding the sites of fine art and how and for whom it takes place.
