short biography

Patricia Piccinini (b. 1965, Freetown / Sierra Leone) works with sculpture, painting, video, sound and installation. In her immersive installations of almost lifelike, alienating sculptural beings, she uses materials such as silicone, fiberglass, nylon, and human hair to show how the natural and the artificial can be mutated with disruptive compounds.
Patricia Piccinini studied at the Australian National University and the Victorian College of the Arts.
