Carol Rama (Olga Carolina Rama, b. 1918, Turin; d. 2015, Turin) developed a body of work over seven decades that is marked by radical break with taboos. She experimented with alternative materials and created narratives around sexuality, violence, madness, life and death and created permissive, ironic and rebellious drawings, collages, pictures and watercolors. 2003 she received the Golden Lion at the Venice Biennale for Lifetime Achievement.
